Wales centre Gavin Henson will have a second knee scan to determine whether he needs an operation.

Henson injured the joint playing for the Ospreys against Sale last month and has failed to feature in the RBS 6 Nations so far.

Henson’s side the Ospreys face Edinburgh on Friday but if he requires an operation that would mean around three weeks out and he would definitely miss the matches with Italy and England.

It is thought Henson has a small cartilage tear but Wales will have Gareth Thomas back from suspension for the game in Rome.
