Former Scotland scrum-half Brian Shillinglaw has died at the age of 68.

Former Scotland scrum-half Brian Shillinglaw has died at the age of 68.

Shillinglaw won five caps for Scotland making a winning debut against Ireland at Lansdowne Road in February 1960 and he also played against England, France and South Africa twice.

A product of Gala Wanderers, Shillinglaw went on to play some 65 times for Gala, where he also appeared at centre and stand-off as well as scrum-half.

During national service he played for his regiment, the KOSB, and the Army, while he was stationed in Berlin in 1960 and Berwick in 1961.

Shillinglaw turned professional in 1961 and played for Whitehaven and Wigan.
