Scotland flanker Ross Rennie has agreed a new two-year contract with Edinburgh and hailed head coach Andy Robinson for making him a better player.
The 22-year-old made his Scotland debut against Ireland during the RBS 6 Nations campaign and has emerged as a key man for Edinburgh.
Robinson’s arrival in October has allowed Rennie to benefit from the former British Lions flanker’s experience.
Rennie said: “Obviously Andy has been a big influence on me and he has really helped me to develop my game.
“He is very good at drip-feeding us information about how he wants us to play the game. He has been very good for me this season.”
Three of Rennie’s club-mates have also committed to new deals, with John Houston and Greig Laidlaw signing until 2010 and Andrew Turnbull landing a one-year contract.
Houston, 25, has been handed his chance to impress by Robinson and the versatile back responded by scoring tries against Toulouse and Leinster in the Heineken Cup.
With his first professional season almost at an end, Houston said: “I’m delighted with the opportunities I’ve been given to play and I’ve loved every minute of it.”
Winger Turnbull, 26, has been Edinburgh’s leading try-scorer this season and scrum-half Laidlaw, 22, has developed into a useful understudy for Scotland international Mike Blair.
