Edinburgh coach Andy Robinson is looking forward to returning to his old club Bath as part of his side’s pre-season preparations.

Edinburgh will travel to the west country for the game at the Recreation Ground on Friday, August 29 having already played Premiership champions Wasps the previous week.

Robinson – poised to continue in his new role as Scotland assistant coach into the autumn Tests and the 2009 RBS 6 Nations – believes both games will be tough challenges for his team ahead of the start of the Celtic League.

It will be an emotional occasion for the former England coach – who enjoyed a 14-year association with Bath as player, captain and coach – as he heads into the visitors’ changing room at the Rec for the first time.

He said: “We wanted to have a home game and I think the Wasps match is a really good fixture for us; playing against the former European champions and also a team that has played outstandingly well this year.

“And it will be good fun to go back to Bath. It is a warm-up match and I’m looking forward to seeing the guys putting in a good performance against them.”
