Scotland hooker Ross Ford believes Edinburgh’s willingness to play an expansive game can help them improve on last season’s excellent campaign.

Ford was a try-scorer in Scotland historic victory over Argentina in the second Test of the summer series to follow his outstanding effort for Edinburgh against Leinster in the European Cup in January.   That score, which involved nearly half the Edinburgh team and a succession of excellent off-loads, was voted Scottish Rugby’s Try of the Year.   Ford said: “The try against Argentina was a usual effort from me; a two-yard dart over the line! There had been good build-up play through pressure and I was lucky enough to get my hands on the ball and score.   “That try (against Leinster) summed up the way Edinburgh play; we can score tries from anywhere. That move started in our own 22 and we ended up scoring up the other end with everyone involved.

“That is the mindset in the whole Edinburgh squad; to make things happen from all over the pitch. We just want to go out there and make things happen.”
