Glasgow are closing in on a swoop for Argentina’s record try-scorer Jose Maria Nunez Piossek.

The 31-year-old is due to arrive from his homeland as soon as a visa is approved – and that should be little problem as he has scored an incredible 29 tries from 24 Tests for the Pumas.

“I am going to Glasgow for a season with the option of staying a further year,” said Piossek.

“I am delighted to have the opportunity to play in the Celtic League. The level of rugby is good.”

Piossek has had spells at Bristol and French clubs Clermont Auvergne, Castres and Bayonne and played in the World Cup third-placed team’s 21-15 victory over Scotland in June.

Piossek, who missed last year’s World Cup with a knee injury but featured in the 2003 event, would join compatriot Bernardo Stortoni at Glasgow if the deal is completed.
