Former England captain Phil Vickery has agreed a new contract with London Wasps.

Vickery, 32, is expected to sign a deal keeping him at the Guinness Premiership champions until 2011.

The Cornishman capped 68 times at international level, is expected to star for England in the upcoming RBS 6 Nations.

“I have been made a very fair offer which I am perfectly satisfied with,” said Vickery.

“Nothing has been signed but we have reached a verbal agreement and I’d be more than happy to stay.

“I don’t know about other players’ business and I don’t want to but I sincerely hope the others who are out of contract sign as well because this is a good club to be part of.

“I have nothing but good things to say about Wasps, they look after you and do everything they can to get the best out of everyone.

“I count myself lucky to be at Wasps for one reason in particular – they are pro-England.

“They want to help England which is why they go to a lot of trouble to keep producing England players.”

Wasps sit ninth in the Premiership after a sluggish start to the domestic season.
