Scotland star Sean Lamont is relishing his taste of Sevens action this weekend – because he was jealous watching the team play last week.

The Test flier, who has signed with the Scarlets for next season after several successful seasons at Northampton, has been called into the side as replacement for fellow Scotland winger Thom Evans.

He will play in the eighth and final leg of the IRB Sevens World Series at Murrayfield on Saturday and Sunday.

Lamont has scored seven tries in his 36 appearances for Scotland and is looking forward to making a return to the shortened form of the game, which like Evans he graced as a young player.

“I was sitting watching the London Sevens on TV and thinking it would be nice to play some Sevens again, especially in such nice weather,” Lamont said.

“It was surreal when I got a call from (Scotland Sevens coach) Stevie Gemmell asking me if I wanted to play.

“I feel like the pressure is on me now because the guys put in such a great performance at Twickenham. I¹m actually more nervous about this weekend¹s tournament than I have been about any of the other games I’ve played in.”
