Glasgow head coach Sean Lineen has been forced to delay his team selection for Saturday’s clash with Cardiff after more than 20 players were struck by a flu bug.

Lineen has instead named a 24-man squad for the Magners League clash in Wales and will select his team when several fitness issues have been sorted.

However, the former Scotland international has been encouraged by his players’ preparations over the past week.

“It’s been a challenging week for the players who have come down with the bug but I have been very impressed by how they have gone about their business,” Lineen said.

Lineen has had some good fitness news as he named summer signing DTH van der Merwe in his squad for the first time.

The back joined Glasgow after helping Canada qualify for the 2011 World Cup finals following a 15-month spell on the sidelines with a broken ankle.

And Lineen is looking forward to seeing the 23-year-old in a Warriors strip for the first time.

Lineen said: “DTH had some bad luck with a dead leg and the flu but he has been looking really sharp and I’m excited about seeing him in action soon after looking pretty impressive over the summer with Canada.”
