Scotland head coach Andy Robinson admits Tuesday night’s clash with Japan is the perfect opportunity to rediscover their best form ahead of June’s two-Test tour of Argentina.

Robinson’s men come into their summer tour short on confidence after a RBS 6 Nations campaign which saw them fail to register a win and score just one try throughout their first four games.

Scotland ultimately avoided picking up the wooden spoon courtesy of a 23-20 victory over Ireland at Croke Park.

And Robinson admits he wants his players to use their final-day 6 Nations performance as a stepping stone to success in South America.

“We need to get something out of the game,” said Robinson. “It’s not just about winning.

“We have to get something in terms of our style and how we want to play against Argentina.

“This is a form of fast-tracking, getting everyone back together and getting quickly back to where we were against Ireland.

“It’s a training game but it’s for us to go out and get the guys together and to look at a couple of moves we will look to use to attack Argentina.

“We will look at plenty of players that didn’t take the field against Ireland in the last match and maybe include one of two players from the Nations Cup squad.”
