Shane Williams has revealed he is raring and ready to go after completing his first full pre-season of training for seven years.

The Ospreys wing says he is ahead of schedule after a shoulder injury forced him to miss out on Wales’ summer tour of New Zealand.

And with a stacked calendar year ahead, including internationals with New Zealand, South Africa, Australia and Fiji in November, Williams insists he is feeling sharper than ever.

“I’ve had time to work on my shoulder, which plagued me all season, to work on my fitness and make sure I’m right for a massive season this year,” said Williams.

“I certainly needed the pre-season – I needed a big one but there’s only so much fitness and speed training you can do.

“I was disappointed not to have gone on tour in the summer and there’s nothing worse than watching your fellow players out there and playing against a very good New Zealand side.

“It was quite painful to watch on telly, but personally it’s done me the world of good because I’ve had time to reflect as well and get myself fit.

“It’s probably the only pre-season I’ve had for about seven years so I’m feeling fresh and ready to go.”
