England’s women have made five changes to their side ahead of their World Cup semi final against Australia on Wednesday.

Backs Alice Richardson, Fiona Pocock and Amy Turner all come in, while Heather Fisher and Rosemarie Crowley are included in the pack, where No. 8 Catherine Spencer retains the captaincy.

Gary Street’s side head into the last-four encounter with an 100% record in the competition after winning all three of their pool matches against Ireland, Kazakhstan and the USA, and the coach is looking forward to the match at the Twickenham Stoop.

He said: “This is a huge game and as such we have picked an extremely experienced side to take on the Australian challenge.

“It’s certainly going to be exciting to play at the Stoop and we are hoping to have the same great support that we have enjoyed at the Surrey Sports Park.

“The Australian-England rivalry is great in every sporting contest and I am sure it will be no different on Wednesday.”

The other semi final on Wednesday sees reigning world champions New Zealand meet France at the Stoop.
