Scott Williams has revealed how he will never have to pay for an alcoholic drink in Wales again following the response to his RBS 6 Nations match-winning try against England.
The 21-year-old produced a superb solo score in the dying moments of the RBS 6 Nations clash at Twickenham that helped seal a 19-12 win and the Triple Crown for Wales.
Williams has since been compared to Scott Gibbs who scored a last-minute try at Wembley in 1999 as Wales won 32-31 to deny England what would have then been a Five Nations Grand Slam.
The Scarlets centre has also seen his page on social networking site Twitter inundated with messages, most offering to buy him a pint, while his mum was accosted to appear on the radio.
Wales will bid to keep their Grand Slam hopes alive against Italy on March 10 and Williams admits it may take him that long to get around his dramatic rise to fame.
“The last few days have been hectic and I hear my mum said on radio I will never have to buy a drink in Newcastle Emlyn again,” Williams told the Western Mail.
“My Twitter followers are flying up now and I have had a lot of congratulations messages, which have said things like I don’t have to buy a pint.
“So that is good, but I don’t want to become an alcoholic. All my family and friends have been over the moon.
“I have not been back yet to my parents house, but, from what they are saying, everyone is bouncing at home. I will go back on the weekend and see my family and find out what the reaction is.”
