Kearnan Myall has been called into England’s squad for their summer tour to Argentina after Calum Clark and Ed Slater were ruled out through injury.

The Sale lock, who will join Wasps this summer, had already been part of the squad for Sunday’s win over the Barbarians, and will now be part of the 31-strong squad heading to South America for two Tests against Argentina and a warm-up game against a South American XV this Sunday.

England impressed in a 40-12 win over the Baabaas, their first action since seeing the RBS 6 Nations crown slip through their fingers in the final game against Wales in Cardiff back in March.

And while there are two players missing from the original squad, Clark with an ankle injury and Slater with a tricep problem, Stuart Lancaster has decided that he only needed to add one more player to his travelling party.

He said: “It’s unfortunate for both Calum and Ed that they won’t be able to join up with England this summer but I’m sure they will be back and pushing for places next season.

“Kearnan did well in a good team performance against the Barbarians and now has a great chance to continue his progress with us on tour.

“It means we travel with one player less than originally selected but we have lots of options in the second row and back row to cover for that.”
