Gethin Jenkins insists he is eyeing up the century club with Wales after returning to Cardiff Blues this season.
The 32-year-old enjoyed a roller-coaster ride last time out that started with captaining Wales in their 30-3 RBS 6 Nations victory over England that enabled them to keep a hold of their crown.
And the celebrations didn’t stop there as the prop helped Toulon beat Clermont Auvergne 16-15 to lift the Heineken Cup.
However Jenkins’ world soon came crashing down around him as despite being selected for Warren Gatland’s British & Irish Lions squad his involvement was cut short due to a recurrence of his long-standing calf problem.
The next time Jenkins pulls on a rugby shirt it will be a Cardiff Blues one having opted to end his stay in France a year early to return to Wales.
And the front-rower is hopeful his decision will help him bring up 100 caps in the red of Wales, having currently racked up 98 to his name.
“I didn’t really know what to expect going out there [France],” Jenkins told Wales Online.
“I enjoyed where I was and the team spirit of the boys. There were a lot of good players there who I got on with. It was just the rugby. I would have liked to play a lot more.
“I found it hard coming back international wise. I didn’t have the fitness that perhaps I would have if I was here being managed as well as I am.
“I really enjoyed the experience and the culture, but I suppose rugby took priority in the end.
“I’m just looking forward to getting back out on that field again now.
“I want to get 100 caps and keep playing for my country. You never bank on your next cap, so I’ve got to work hard to get towards that goal. Hopefully I’ll get those extra two.”
