England wing Marland Yarde admits his form for London Irish will dictate whether he can keep his place in Stuart Lancaster’s side this season.

Yarde, 21, excelled when winning his first cap in England’s 51-26 win over Argentina last month and has high hopes of keeping his place on the left wing for the autumn internationals and next year’s RBS 6 Nations.

He will face stiff competition however with Chris Ashton, Christian Wade and David Strettle among a host of wingers who were not in action in Buenos Aires.

And Yarde believes he must concentrating on performing for London Irish if he’s to extend his international career.

“It was humbling to get the call up but to achieve my first cap was massive for me I wanted to take the game into my stride and work hard and take what I’ve done last season into the match,” he said.

“I was really pleased that it came off and at the end of the match I was really happy with the way my performance went.

“That’s at the back of my mind it’s now focusing on London Irish, so I’m focusing on the new season ahead.

“I’ve always said no one puts more pressure on me then me I put pressure on myself to perform to the best of my ability week in week out. It will probably be more pressure than in the past years but I just want to work as hard as I can for London Irish.”
