Warren Gatland insists he is relishing teaming up with Shaun Edwards again when he returns to the Wales ranks.

Gatland is set to once again takeover the reins at Wales after leading the British & Irish Lions to a 2-1 series victory over Australia this summer.

Despite Edwards having helped Gatland lead Wales to RBS 6 Nations Grand Slams in 2008 and 2012, as well a defending their title last time out, he was overlooked for a role with Lions as England’s Andy Farrell was chosen as defence coach.

But ahead of a difficult looking set of November Tests that will see Wales host Australia, South Africa, Argentina and Tonga at the Millennium Stadium, Gatland does not expect there to be any problems as he once again strikes up a partnership with Edwards.

“He was texting on a regular basis saying good luck and well done,” said Gatland.

“I’m looking forward to working with him again in November. Shaun’s someone I’ve got a huge amount of time for and admire.

“It doesn’t mean I have any less respect or admiration for Shaun as a coach and I think a lot of the players that were on the Lions will come back and look forward to working with him again as well.”
