Wales fly-half Dan Biggar is starting to earn the recognition he deserves according to Ospreys coach Steve Tandy, after he became just the second person ever to pass 1000 points in the Pro12.

With 18 points against Connacht, including a try, five conversions and a penalty, Biggar passed the milestone at the age of just 23 to join former Scotland fly-half Dan Parks in the 100-point club.

Biggar, who has 18 caps for Wales and featured in all five of his country’s 2013 RBS 6 Nations Grand Slam success, has been in fine form this season.

And Tandy believes he is setting the perfect example for others to follow, insisting achieving the record at such a young age is testament to the effort he puts in.

“It’s incredible that someone so young has achieved what he has in this competition, but no less than he deserves,” said Tandy

“He is the complete professional in everything he does, he is hard working, diligent and an example for others to follow. I’ve gone on record many times to say how highly I rate him.

“He has always been fantastic for the region, he is proud to play for his local team, and I’m absolutely thrilled that people are starting to acknowledge what he is about.”
