Braley and co began the Championship with a disappointing 21-15 defeat to France but since then they have roared back into life.

Firstly, they put Scotland to the sword 48-15 away from home and last week, tries from Maro Itoje, Howard Packman, Nick Tompkins and Joel Conlon led to a 33-9 victory against Ireland.

As a result, England are second in the table and are ready to pounce should France, who have won their opening three matches, slip up.

Next up England welcome Wales – the side they defeated at last summer’s Junior World Championship – who have also won two and lost one of their first three games.

But after victory over Ireland, scrum-half Braley revealed confidence is sky high.

“We knew that Ireland would come out fighting and so it proved – they came at us from the first minute and I don’t think we felt comfortable at any point,” he said.

“It’s always pleasing to get the win and I’m delighted for the lads who all put in big shifts.”
