Scott Johnson’s side picked up their first win of the 2014 Championship in dramatic circumstances last weekend, sealing a 21-20 win in Italy – their first since 2006 – thanks to Duncan Weir’ last-gasp drop goal.

Now Scotland turn their attentions to hosting France next Saturday and they will be hoping to compound Les Bleus’ woes after Philippe Saint-Andre’s men were emphatically beaten by Wales.

History is not on Scotland’s side – in the 14 Championship matches since 2000 between the sides, France have won 13.

But Hamilton, who plays his club rugby for Montpellier, is adamant Scotland will not go back into their shells at Murrayfield.

“We were under pressure the last two weeks and to get a win, the first win [in Rome] since 2006, just shows the belief we’ve got in this group,” he said.

“We want to go back to Murrayfield against a very tough French team in a couple of weeks and put in a great performance for our supporters.”
