Brian O’Driscoll has avoided major injury after scoring but coming off early as Leinster defeated Munster – according to head coach Matt O’Connor.
O’Driscoll, who brought his Test career to a close by leading Ireland to this year’s RBS 6 Nations title, scored the only try as Leinster beat Munster 22-18.
He was forced off however just past the hour mark plunging into doubt his availability for the remainder of the season with Leinster soon to be in European action.
However Leinster head coach O’Connor insists the injury to the 35-year-old retiring Ireland centre was nothing more than a minor blow to the neck.
“Brian just got a bang on the neck. He was over the ball and he got his neck twisted, but he’ll be fine,” said O’Connor.
“We understood how important it was to put out a quality performance at home in front of a sell-out at the Aviva. That was enormous motivation for us.
“The four points are huge. It puts us in pole position in the league, which is our bread and butter and it’s hugely important to the whole organisation.
“There were a lot of things at play and we came out on the positive side of the ledger on most of them.”
