Joe Launchbury’s form for club and country could see the suitors closing in but London Wasps director of rugby Dai Young is confident of holding onto the 23-year-old.
Second row Launchbury was one of England’s most consistent players as they narrowly missed out on clinching the 2014 RBS 6 Nations crown.
He joined Wasps in 2010 and made his full England debut two years later, since going on to form an imposing partnership with Courtney Lawes.
Launchbury – England’s player of the year for the 2012-13 season – has continued his upward trajectory this campaign and looks set to be one of the first names on Stuart Lancaster’s teamsheet come next year’s World Cup.
Meanwhile, at club level, Young believes Wasps can convince the young lock to resist the charms of the likes of Premiership leaders and European Cup finalists Saracens.
“It’s not a surprise to me that Saracens would be interested in Joe,” he told the Independent on Sunday.
“The reality is that he has one year left on his contract and no matter what king’s ransom we’d been offered, we’d never release him.
“But it’s up to us next season to prove to Joe that we’re the club he should be staying at. People want to be in successful teams that are moving forward. If we can prove that to Joe, I am confident he’d want to stay.”
