Scotland lock Jonny Gray is determined to end his season on a high after scooping a prestigious award.

Lock Gray has shone both for Glasgow Warriors and for Scotland this season, appearing off the bench against England at Murrayfield for his first ever RBS 6 Nations appearances.

And the 20-year-old’s form has been rewarded after he was named as Young Player of the Year by Friends of Scottish Rugby.

Previous recipients of the award include David Denton and older brother, Richie, but the younger Gray is adamant he won’t let his moment in the spotlight get to his head.

“I’m very honoured to have received this award and I thank the Friends of Scottish Rugby for considering me worthy of it,” he said.

“My focus now is on a really big end to the season, starting with Glasgow Warriors’ game against Treviso tonight.”
