Winger Tommy Bowe is hopeful the injury problems which plagued him last season are a thing of a past as he targets a return to the Ireland squad.

Wrist and groin injuries restricted the 30-year-old to only ten domestic league appearances for Ulster last season and also kept him out of Ireland’s successful 2014 RBS 6 Nations campaign.

Bowe has not featured for Ireland since November but, with the 2015 World Cup on the horizon, he hopes an injury-free season will see him back at his best and back in the set-up.

“Being injured is by far the worst part of playing rugby. It’s my 11th year. I was fortunate,” said Bowe.

“I’ve had eight years of pretty much no injuries but the last years have been hell. Hopefully this is my year.

“It’s the World Cup at the end of the year and hopefully I will get back involved in that and we’ll see how we go.”
