England head coach Stuart Lancaster has given Pennyhill Park a ringing endorsement after it was confirmed as the team’s main training base for the 2015 World Cup.

Lancaster’s troops will remain at Pennyhill Park in Bagshot in Surrey for as long as possible during the pool stages with their final group fixture to be played in Manchester.

Three of their four pool matches will be played at Twickenham while Wales will also be in familiar surroundings for a large part of the tournament having secured the Vale Resort near Cardiff.

Reigning RBS 6 Nations champions Ireland will move bases between each fixture, making use of Celtic Manor, St George’s Park, Surrey Sports Park and the Sport Wales National Centre.

Scotland will move between Hartpury College, Leeds Metropolitan University, the University of Leeds and Newcastle Royal Grammar School.

Italy will stick to Surrey Sports Park and Cobham RFC while France will also use the Vale Resort near Cardiff as well as Trinity School in Croydon.

And Lancaster, who led England the Triple Crown during this year’s RBS 6 Nations, admits getting such details right will have been key come the World Cup.

“It’s great to have Pennyhill Park as our training base. It’s a place we are used to – the facilities are first class, especially with the new training centre,” he said.

“We are also looking forward to be being based in Salford for our final pool game at the Manchester City Stadium and taking England Rugby to the north of England.”
