England captain Chris Robshaw insists he is relishing the challenge of fighting off competitors for his international spot.

Robshaw played every minute of England’s RBS 6 Nations campaign earlier this year and also notched his second international try against Italy.

But, with the likes of Saracens’ Will Fraser and Wasps’ James Haskell impressing at openside flanker in the Aviva Premiership so far this season, Robshaw cannot afford to rest on his laurels.

However, the 28-year-old says he is just focusing on his own game as he looks to hold off an ever-growing list of contenders for the England number seven jersey.

“As players, and international players, we are there to be shot at,” said Robshaw.

“You speak about how hard it is to get there – well it’s even harder to stay there. There are always a lot of people nipping at your heels.

“There’s no magic formula to this type of stuff. You crack on and work hard and you improve your game.

“All I can do is go out there and put in the performances, not worry about what’s being written and said.”
