The 25-year-old has successfully made the jump from Bedford Blues in the Championship and forced his way into a star-studded Saracens side, form that resulted in him making his Scotland debut against Samoa in summer 2013.

Injuries to Sarries teammates Brad Barritt, Marcelo Bosch and Tim Streather have helped make Taylor a near ever-present for his club side this season, and Taylor is hoping he can make just such an impact for his national side heading into a busy 2015.

Taylor featured four times in the 2014 RBS 6 Nations, helping Scotland to fifth in the Championship table, and he knows that maintaining his Saracens form will keep the door open for him at international level.

“I’d love to keep playing for Scotland, and to do that I need to keep getting game time here and playing good rugby to get into the Saracens team,” Taylor told London24. “That’s the main aim for me, and if I do that, the rest will hopefully follow suit.

“I’m pretty happy about where I’m at in terms of my form at the moment. I’m really enjoying my rugby but I’m looking to continue progressing this season and really kick on.

“I’m lucky that I am at an amazing club working alongside some really good people so, in that respect, things are going really well at the moment.”
