New England head coach Eddie Jones believes the future is bright despite their early Rugby World Cup exit on home soil.

Jones, 55, has replaced Stuart Lancaster at the helm and his first game in charge will be the 2016 RBS 6 Nations opener against Scotland at BT Murrayfield on 6 February.

England go into the RBS 6 Nations on the back of their group-stage exit at the World Cup but Jones, head coach of Australia when they were runners-up to the Red Rose at the 2003 Rugby World Cup, has confidence in the players at his disposal.

“I’m now looking forward to working with the RFU and the players to move beyond the disappointment England suffered at the World Cup and hope to build a new team that will reflect the level of talent that exists within the English game,” said Jones, who has left his post at South African franchise The Stormers.

“I believe the future is bright for England.

“The opportunity to take the reins in possibly the world’s most high-profile international rugby job doesn’t come along every day and I feel fortunate to be given the opportunity.”
