Toulon have devised a plan to help François Trinh-Duc becoming the driving force for a new-look France – according to club owner Mourad Boudjellal.

Trinh-Duc, who has been ruled out for two months after suffering a fractured tibia last week, will leave Montpellier for Toulon on a three-year deal next summer.

The 29-year-old has had terrible luck with injuries – the same injury cost him five months of last season – and eventually missed out on France’s Rugby World Cup squad.

And while the fly-half may face a race against time to be fit and in form for the 2016 RBS 6 Nations, the Championship represents a clean slate for everyone following the appointment of new head coach Guy Novès.

Trinh-Duc will not be arriving at Toulon until next season, but Boudjellal is confident that he will evolve into a better player competing alongside Australia international Quade Cooper.

“François Trinh-Duc is committed for the next three seasons with the club Toulon Rugby.,” he said. “I had a lunch with Jonny Wilkinson and Diego Dominguez that went very well. They discussed at length with him about what they could bring him on his kicking game to progress and bring it to the top of the France team.

“Francois has said that Toulon is a place that can hold two large number 10s and that will be good for his progress as he tries to fight back into the France team.

“This is the challenge that we have done together to make him tailor-made to bring it to the top of world rugby.”
