Rory Best has spoken of his honour in representing his country after agreeing a new dual contract with Ireland and Ulster Rugby.

The Ireland hooker has signed a deal which will see him contracted to the Irish province and national team until 2018.   The 33-year-old has made 89 appearances for Ireland and has featured in the RBS 6 Nations 46 times.   Best said: “I am very happy to have signed a two-year Irish contract to remain with Ulster Rugby.

“It is a great honour to play for Ulster and Ireland and I am privileged to have the opportunity to captain this talented group of Ulster players.   “Our challenge now is to deliver on the promise we have shown and reward our fans with strong performances.”   Best made his Ireland debut in 2005 and has appeared in the last ten editions of the RBS 6 Nations.   He remains an integral part of the side, featuring in four of Ireland’s five matches at this year’s World Cup.   IRFU Performance Director David Nucifora said: “Rory contributes so much to Irish rugby both on and off the field.   “He is a model professional who has consistently performed at the top level for both province and country.   “We are delighted to have secured his services for a further two years.”
