Scotland flanker John Hardie is targeting three wins in a row to finish off the 2016 RBS 6 Nations after their victory in Rome last weekend.

The Scots ended a nine-match losing streak in the Championship on Saturday with a 36-20 win over Italy in Rome.

Hardie was one of three try scorers on the day – John Barclay and Tommy Seymour grabbing the other two – as Scotland claimed their first win of this year’s Championship.

Next up is the visit of France in round four, before heading to Dublin to face Ireland in the final game.

And Hardie is adamant that Vern Cotter’s troops have turned the corner and can now go for broke in the last two rounds.

“Hopefully now that the pressure is off a bit, we can really express ourselves in our last two games against France and Ireland,” he said.

“I think we can now look to end on a couple of really good wins. We’re good enough to win these next two games and really push on.

“If we do that I will be really happy with how we are progressing as a team.”

The Scots began their campaign with narrow reversals to England and Wales but despite those losses, Hardie insists he never lost faith that good times were around the corner.

“We were never too far away. We were just one or two performances away from opening this RBS 6 Nations up,” he added.

“We tried to stay positive. We knew we were close to a big display and it is great to get that pressure off our shoulders.

“I’m really proud of how the boys did on Saturday. The defence was solid and the attack was really good too. I loved it.”
