France full-back Maxime Médard feels he has come out of the RBS 6 Nations in fine form after an impressive display on his return to club action.

Médard scored one try in Toulouse’s 36-3 victory over Stade Français and was generally impressive at full-back, having returned from international action.

The 29-year-old started France’s first three games of the RBS 6 Nations before coming off the bench in the games against Scotland and England.

And having not featured much in recent seasons for Les Bleus, he was recalled this season under Guy Novès and revealed he enjoyed the chance to get back into the national squad.

He said: “I was very happy to take part in the whole of the Championship. I was pleased to start or come off the bench.

“With France we have a squad that rotates but we get on well together. Then again, I hadn’t played much in the last two weeks and so it went well for me. Next week there will be another.

“I’m going through a good period at the moment, but I’m really happy because the work is paying off.

“It’s a win (against Stade Français) that is good for morale and for the table. Castres lost, Bordeaux lost and winning with a bonus point is good for us.

“We had gone on a run of games without a win, and we reacted well even if Paris didn’t have their internationals and were focused on Europe.”
