Ireland scrum-half Conor Murray admits he will be using the knowledge gleaned during the RBS 6 Nations as he prepares to take on some of his Irish teammates this weekend.

The 26-year-old will be part of the Munster team that take on provincial rivals Leinster this weekend, fresh from two months playing alongside each other for Ireland.

After a slow start to the Championship, the Irish won their last two games, against Italy then Scotland, to finish in third place overall.

Having won the two previous editions of the RBS 6 Nations, it was a disappointing result but Murray is hoping to take advantage of some inside information before taking on his Ireland teammates.

Murray, who scored three tries in the RBS 6 Nations, said: “It could give you an insight into some of the threats that Leinster will bring and maybe certain areas we can target.

“They’re going to be saying the exact same thing so it will be an interesting tactical battle.

“I suppose the knowledge we have of each other can definitely be of benefit for both sides so it’s a trade-off there so it’s going to be an interesting battle.”

As well as preparing to take on some of his international colleagues Murray will also reunite with All Black teammate Francis Saili.

And with Ireland set to take on New Zealand at the end of the year, Murray is looking forward to the clash in Chicago in November.

He added: “It’s hugely exciting looking further down the track at the November internationals coming up.

“Last time I came up against the All Blacks and a number of my international colleagues played them we came very, very close.

“It’s a long way off but it’s hugely exciting. It’s very rare to play over in Soldier Field and it’s a squad everyone wants to be involved in, so it starts with playing well with your province and we’ll deal with that then.”
