France scrum-half Sébastien Bézy admits he’s had to bounce back from a tricky few months but is confident he has put that tough time in the rearview mirror.

The 24-year-old played in every game of the RBS 6 Nations for France, but after starting the first two matches, against Italy and Ireland, he dropped to the bench for the three remaining matches, with Maxime Machenaud preferred.

He then came under fire while in action for club side Toulouse after a last-minute conversion was blocked against Brive, costing his team a win in the Top 14 in March.

Bézy, who made his international debut against Italy, responded well after the RBS 6 Nations, with a couple of fine performances against Stade Français and Racing 92, and is looking ahead to a big end of season with his club.

He told Rugbyrama: “It’s not an easy time to go through and I know I still have a lot to learn.

“Obviously it’s not nice (to be criticised) but when you’re a professional player, that’s the game and everyone gives their opinion. I didn’t get too bothered by it.

“At Brive the coaching staff didn’t want to pile on because they knew I wasn’t feeling great, but I spoke with (Toulouse coach) Ugo Mola and he said there would be some big games before the end of the season and that I needed to move onto something else.”

Meanwhile there was bad news for Bézy’s France and Toulouse teammate Yacouba Camara, after it was revealed that he has torn his ACL and will face at least six months on the sidelines after undergoing an operation.

Like Bézy, Camara made his international debut during the RBS 6 Nations, but he suffered the injury last time out against Racing.
