A little over a year ago, Jamie Heaslip was among those in green celebrating on the BT Murrayfield pitch as Ireland sealed a second consecutive RBS 6 Nations title.

And while the colour of shirt will be different this time around, the Leinster No.8 has his sights set on a similar outcome this time around in the Guinness PRO12 final.

Heaslip is one of a number of Ireland’s RBS 6 Nations stars who will be on show in Edinburgh this evening as Leinster and Connacht contest an all-Irish final at BT Murrayfield.

The 32-year-old is certainly no stranger to the big games having represented the British and Irish Lions on two tours as well as clocking up 42 appearances for Ireland in the RBS 6 Nations, including this year where the men in green finished third.

And the Leinster man, who is included in Ireland’s 32-man squad for next month’s Test series in South Africa, is desperate to try and use that experience to help his club side to success on Saturday.

“Turning around and seeing the pitch, I’ve so many good memories from this pitch,” said.

“This would be massive in terms of what we’re trying to do in Leinster, how we’re trying to evolve the culture, the group the club. It would add to the legacy players want to leave at the club.

“This has been a long season. We started training at the end of June last year and to be playing for something after missing out on different competitions and experiencing that void, it’s terribly exciting.”
