Wales wing Tom James admits he couldn’t get his signature down quick enough after being given a new contract with Cardiff Blues.

The 29-year-old Wales international, who returned to the BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park for 2015-16 season following a two year stint with Exeter Chiefs, was awarded the contract following his excellent start to the season.   “As soon as I came back from the Wales tour of New Zealand and my agent began talking with Cardiff Blues, I couldn’t get the deal signed quick enough,” he said.   “I’ve been really pleased with the way things have gone and I bit Danny’s (Wilson) hand off when he offered me this new deal.”

The 29-year-old won his first caps for Wales in over than five years at the 2016 RBS Six Nations when he played in the draw with Ireland before facing Scotland at the Principality Stadium.   Cardiff Blues’ head coach Danny Wilson said: “Tom is a superb player and has shown exactly what he is capable of in the opening weeks of this season.”

“He is fast, powerful, defends well and does the basics well. He is a key player for us and will be an important part of what we are trying to build here.”   “I’m delighted we have been able to secure one of the in-form Welsh players to a new, long-term contract and hope there are many more performances like we have seen so far this season to come.”   James has 12 caps for Wales with his most recent appearance coming in the 27-23 win against Scotland in the 2016 RBS Six Nations.
