Wales have drafted in Scarlets back Rhys Patchell and Ospreys prop Rhodri Jones to their summer tour training camp in North Wales as cover for Exeter Chiefs’ Phil Dollman and Scarlets’ Samson Lee.   Uncapped Ospreys prop Gareth Thomas has also been called up to replace Scarlets prop Rob Evans after he was forced to withdraw due to a hand injury.   Lee and Dollman will both undergo scans today after picking up knee injuries in their respective title-winning matches last weekend.   Dollman, who scored the Chiefs’ second try in a dramatic 23-20 Aviva Premiership final victory over Wasps, had been called up to replace the injured Cardiff Blues teenager Rhun Williams before picking up a knee injury.

Scarlets defeated Munster 46-22 in the Guinness PRO12 final at the Aviva Stadium and following their success, Wales head coach Robin McBryde congratulated Wayne Pivac’s side.

He said: “The Scarlets’ performances in beating first Leinster and then Munster so convincingly to win the Guinness PRO12 has title lifted not only the Scarlets players, but the whole squad.

“We are looking forward to a good week’s training together as a squad at the fantastic Parc Eirias facilities and Friday’s match will be an important part of our preparation before facing Samoa and Tonga.

“We have to accept that injuries are part and parcel of rugby at the very top level and we will wait medical opinion following scans to Samson and Phil on Tuesday before making any further decisions.”

Wales will train at Colwyn Bay before playing WRU National Cup winners RGC 1404 in a warm-up match at Eirias Park on Friday, June 2.

They will then travel to Auckland to face Tonga on June 16, before taking on Samoa in Apia on June 23.
