Danielle Waterman showed exactly why she’s racked up more than 70 international caps after an inspirational performance for Wasps.

With the Autumn Internationals taking place next month – players across the continent were keen to impress in their domestic leagues before joining up with their national squads.

Here we take a look at the star performers from last weekend’s action and who you might want to keep your eyes on during the internationals.   Martin the difference

Scottish captain Lisa Martin has been ever reliable since making her debut for DMP Sharks this season.

And the centre was at it again as she produced a near perfect display with the boot to edge out Loughborough Lightning 16-10.

Martin was the difference in an end-to-end affair as she kicked two penalties after the hour-mark to secure a maiden victory for the Sharks this season.

Martin and Scotland will face Spain next month and head coach Shade Munro is looking forward to making the most of the game to prepare for the 2018 Women’s Six Nations.

He said: “We’re really looking forward to our first friendly international of the season in Madrid, as we continue to raise the level of competitive fixtures ahead of the 2018 Women’s Six Nations.”   Waterman provides sting for Wasps

England stalwart Danielle Waterman was the star of the show in the Tyrrells Premier 15s as she inspired her Wasps side to victory.

The 32-year-old was everywhere in the 17-5 triumph over Bristol, combining with international teammate Harriet Millar-Mills for one try and setting up another to inspire the comeback.

Meanwhile, England head coach Simon Middleton has picked seven debutants for the Old Mutual Wealth Series against Canada in November.

Gloucester-Hartpury’s Ellie Kildunne is one of the new faces and she continued her fine debut season as she punished Rowan White for fumbling a high ball to crash over the whitewash.

But she could not prevent Saracens storming to victory as fellow England newbie Zoe Harrison added a penalty to the 33-7 triumph.   Kavanagh-Williams stars in rout Jess Kavanagh-Williams notched up five tries to help Caernarfon to a thumping 94-22 victory over Seven Sisters.

The North Walian winger, who made her debut in the 2017 Women’s Six Nations, first pounced on a poor back pass from a scrum before dotting down her second just before the interval.

Kavanagh-Williams kept up the scoring in the second half, going over twice before completing the scoring with the final play as she darted over for her fifth try.

Centre Elen Evans also chipped in with a hat-trick in Caernarfon’s third victory of the campaign.

The Welsh international, who has been capped 64 times, dotted down twice before half-time to put the visitors in a dominant position.

Evans then grounded almost immediately after the restart as Caernarfon showed no remorse.   Rigoni wins Italian battle

There was a huge clash in the Serie A Femminile as Valsugana Rugby Padova prevailed over Villorba Rugby 28-14.

Both sides had perfect records heading into the clash but it was Valsugana, who have Italian internationals Claudia Salvadego, Beatrice Rigoni, Maria Veronese and Paola Zangirolami in their ranks, who got the better of Villorba, who are led by Italian captain Sara Barattin.

Elsewhere, Italian centre Michela Sillari helped Rugby Colorno to the top of the league with a convincing 101-0 victory over CUS Pavia.
