It has already been a November to remember for Irish rugby – but it’s set to get even better after the Six Nations champions received a welcome injury boost.

Conor Murray and Chris Farrell are both set to make their first starts of the season when Munster entertain Edinburgh on Friday night in the Guinness Pro14.

Murray came off the bench for his club side last weekend against Zebre after being out of action since Ireland’s summer series win over Australia with a neck injury.

Farrell will also make his full comeback alongside Rory Scannell in midfield, having made a 30-minute cameo in the 32-7 victory at Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi.

The 25-year-old was named man of the match on his Six Nations debut against Wales in March, imposing himself in both defence and attack in the 37-27 triumph.

But he was ruled out of the rest of the Championship – and the remainder of the season – after sustaining an ACL injury while training with Ireland at the Aviva Stadium.

The return of both Farrell and Murray will be music to the ears of Joe Schmidt as he begins preparations for Ireland’s defence of their Six Nations crown.
