Backing up his 2018 Six Nations Player of the Championship award and amazing tryscoring feats in Rugby’s Greatest Championship, Stockdale enjoyed a fantastic autumn for Ireland and is continuing where he left off for Ulster.

Making his first start for the province since that unbeaten international autumn, which included his superb chipped try against the All Blacks, on Friday night Stockdale struck against Scarlets inside the first ten minutes.

Attacking from a scrum in their own half, the ball was passed out to Ireland centre Will Addison, who makes the break before passing out to Stockdale – the wing then sprinting in 50 metres as well as barging through the two remaining tacklers.

Ulster went on to secure a famous Champions Cup 25-24 victory at Parc y Scarlets thanks to further tries from Addison, Henry Speight and Marcell Coetzee, with Ulster up to nine points in Pool 4.

That’s now six tries in 11 Champions Cup appearances for Stockdale, and who would bet against him adding to that collection when Scarlets travel to the Kingspan Stadium next Friday.
