A dazzling individual display from Yoann Huget inspired Toulouse to a sterling 42-27 victory over Wasps in a Champions Cup thriller that gave France head coach Jacques Brunel plenty of food for thought.

The electric wing, who has 53 caps to his name and appeared in the autumn victory over Argentina, got the hosts off to a flyer by scoring inside two minutes with a darting run.

Huget made his first international appearance in over a year in the Autumn International against Argentina as he helped inspire Les Bleus to a 28-13 win as fellow wing Teddy Thomas scored a try in each half.

Huget showed just why he returned to the international fold after the restart by sprinting through the pack before offloading to Antoine Dupont for the bonus point.

And the 31-year-old showed his neat footwork by kicking down the pitch late on, which almost earned him a second try had it not been for a slightly heavy touch.

His teammate Dupont also made his mark in the tie by expertly offloading the ball to gift Joe Tekori the points and score his side’s second try in the match.

The youngster secured his second try of the match after France U20 international Thomas Ramos, brilliantly cut through the pack before setting up Dupont to score.

England international Elliot Daly showed his mettle as the 26-year-old ensured Wasps didn’t go down without a fight – the Six Nations stalwart set up Springbok Willie le Roux for the Premiership side’s second try.

The full-back, who started at No.13 in the European showdown, showed his combination of pace and power to haul his side 30 metres up the field before laying in Le Roux to simply dot down.

The feat would have left England head coach Eddie Jones licking his lips at the prospect of slotting Daly into his side come the Guinness Six Nations opener against Ireland in February.
