Ireland fly-half Joey Carbery produced an impressive Guinness Six Nations audition with a personal haul of 16 points as Munster downed Connacht on Saturday night.

Carbery mixed and matched between fly-half and full-back for the men in red as they claimed the bragging rights in this latest round of inter-pros.

A week on from their victory over Leinster, Munster had to come from behind against an in-form Connacht side.

British & Irish Lions flanker Peter O’Mahony also crossed for a try for the visitors while young centre Dan Goggin bagged a double.

There was yet more good news for Joe Schmidt as alongside Goggin in the Munster midfield, Chris Farrell made his return from injury to wear the No.13 jersey and came through unscathed.

But the star of the show was Carbery who will be hoping for more game time in the green of Ireland during the 2019 Championship – his versatility at fly-half and then No.15 in the second half on full display.

In the other inter-pro Rob Kearney returned for Leinster at full-back in their dominant win over a much-changed Ulster side.

The Belfast-based outfit rested their senior stars like Ireland hooker Rory Best and in his absence, his rival for the Ireland No.2 jersey Sean Cronin bagged a double in the victory.

Andrew Porter also dotted down for Leinster but Conor O’Brien’s stunning solo effort was certainly the highlight as the centre continued his fine recent form in the blue of Leinster.
