Wayne Barnes will get Guinness Six Nations 2019 underway when he blows the whistle to start the clash of France v Wales on February 1.

The Englishman will be assisted by Matthew Carley (RFU) and Brendon Pickerill (NZRU), with Rowan Kitt (RFU) acting as TMO for the Stade de France fixture.

The Saturday afternoon meeting of Scotland v Italy, the second match of the 2019 Championship, will be refereed by England’s Luke Pearce, while the hotly anticipated third match of the opening weekend – Ireland’s meeting with England in Dublin – will be refereed by Jérôme Garcès of France.

Welsh referee Nigel Owens will oversee another headline clash, that of England and France at Twickenham in Round Two and Owens will also be on Assistant Referee duty for France v Scotland in Round Three and Italy v France on the final weekend.

Super Saturday – taking place this year on 16 March – will see Carley (Italy v France), Angus Gardner (Wales v Ireland) and Paul Williams (England v Scotland) take charge of the concluding matches of Guinness Six Nations 2019.

Nic Berry is the only referee who will oversee more than one match with the Australian set to control France v Scotland and England v Italy.

The 2019 edition of the Guinness Six Nations will be Barnes’ last as he plans to finish his refereeing career at the end of the season. His final Guinness Six Nations Match will be an Assistant Referee appointment for Italy v Ireland in Round Three.
