Lifting the Guinness Six Nations trophy and winning the Grand Slam ‘is what dreams are made of’, according to Josh Adams.
The Wales wing touched down three times in the 2019 Championship, as well as making the crucial break which led to Tomos Williams’ match-turning try in his side’s Championship-opener against France.
The 23-year-old has been an integral part of Wales’ 14-match unbeaten streak, which was stretched by their clinical 25-7 win over Ireland in Cardiff in Round Five.
But the Worcester Warriors man said he would give up all of his scores in this year’s Championship, as long as it still meant a perfect campaign for his country.
“We have just been really hungry to succeed,” said Adams, who has been named on the six-man shortlist for Player of the Championship.
“The trophy presentation was the highlight, without a doubt. I would give up every try I’ve scored in this campaign to be standing on that podium as Grand Slam winners, and lift that trophy.
“It was a bit surreal and I’m still on cloud nine, to be honest. It was a great day to be wearing red.
“From one to 23, everyone who came on made a real impact and we were unlucky to concede a try at the end.
“I’ve had 11 caps, thoroughly enjoyed all 11 of them, and to top it off with a Grand Slam is what dreams are made of.
“It would have been nice to have kept the try-scoring run going but I’m happy with the three I’ve got.”
And Adams believes the glory should be shared among the entire Wales playing squad and behind-the-scenes staff.
He credits his team’s form in the Autumn series, where they won all four of their Tests, meaning Warren Gatland’s troops headed in the 2019 Championship in top form.
Adams added: “The whole squad have contributed really well and we couldn’t have done it without the collective effort, and that includes the backroom staff.
“After all the hard work we’ve put, in we thoroughly deserved it.
“The majority of the group from the undefeated Autumn came through into this Six Nations campaign, and that was a big confidence boost for this group.”
