Round Five of the Guinness Six Nations provided a grandstand finale to Rugby’s Greatest Championship not just on the pitch, but in the numbers as England fans held on to take the Fantasy League of Nations title.
With just a 13-point advantage over Wales heading into the final weekend of the Championship, fans – like their teams – went head-to-head for the title.
And while they weren’t able to top the pile in Round Five – with Scotland supporters averaging 378 points – England fans edged out their Welsh equivalents by an average of just 3.6 points.
That meant that English Fantasy Rugby managers accumulated an average of 2255.3 points across the Championship, with Welsh counterparts racking up 2239.4.
Scotland rounded off the top three, with 2198.2 points, as Italy, Ireland and then France completed the set.
On the playing side of things, Jonny May took the honours as the highest-scoring player, totalling 328.7 points across the Championship, dividing down to 67.7 per match.
With six tries to his name, the English speedster took the title by a margin of over 60 points, ahead of next-highest scorer Josh Adams on the other wing.
The top forward from this year’s Fantasy Rugby was England’s Tom Curry – shortlisted for the Guinness Six Nations Player of the Championship award for his performances, the flanker notching up 237.2 points, just 3.3 ahead of Wales man Josh Navidi.
