Swansea Women’s Welsh contingent played a leading role as they claimed glory in the Welsh Super Cup final at Principality Stadium.

Wales skipper Carys Phillips got the ball rolling for Swansea, with Keira Bevan and Siwan Lillicrap also among the try-scorers in the 33-12 victory over Pontyclun Falcons.

Hooker Phillips had given Swansea the perfect start with an early try converted by Jodie Evans, with Courtney Edwards getting the second that was again converted for a 14-0 half-time  lead.

Swansea continued to dominate in the second half, with Ffion Bowen going over for a third, and Bevan then dotting down number four to open up a 26-0 lead.

Pontyclun, who had won both meetings between the sides this season and took the Premiership title, responded with two tries, but it was Swansea who had the final say.

Fittingly it was Wales back-rower Lillicrap who got it, with Evans again converting to wrap up the victory.

As a result, Swansea retain the title they won a year ago, doing so at Principality Stadium, the first time the final has been held at the national stadium.

In the Under-18s final, Cardiff Quins saw off Pencoed Phoenix, with a team featuring full Wales internationals Manon Johnes and Lauren Smyth.
