Ben Moon has been called up as injury cover for England as Mako Vunipola rehabs a small tear of the scar tissue in his hamstring.

The Saracens loosehead prop was forced off in Saturday’s win over Ireland, and will need ten days to recover from the injury.

As a result, Eddie Jones has called on Moon, who started two games for England during the 2019 Guinness Six Nations.

A statement from England Rugby read: “Mako Vunipola has a small tear of scar tissue which will require approximately 10 days of rehabilitation.

“Ben Moon will join up with the squad as a temporary replacement to train in Treviso.”

England will play their final World Cup warm-up match against Italy in Newcastle on September 6 before flying out to Japan.

The 2019 Guinness Six Nations runners-up have so far beaten Wales and most recently Ireland at Twickenham in their preparation for the World Cup, as well as losing to the Grand Slam champions in Cardiff.
