Manu Tuilagi has been ruled out of England’s Guinness Six Nations Round 2 match with Scotland on Saturday due to a groin strain.

The centre limped off the field after just 16 minutes in his side’s opening round 24-17 defeat to France at the Stade de France, and after a scan it has been decided he will miss out on the trip to BT Murrayfield.

The good news is that the injury doesn’t seem to be too serious for the 28-year-old, with Eddie Jones expecting him to return for the Round 3 match with Ireland later in the month.

“He has got a slight low-grade adductor strain,” Jones confirmed.

“But hopefully he will be fit for Ireland, which is very good news – outstanding news.”

Tuilagi has featured just five times for Leicester Tigers this season, with a previous minor groin strain in late December seeing him ruled out for a number of weeks.

Jonathan Joseph was the man who replaced Tuilagi in Paris on Sunday, and will be among the frontrunners to fill the No.13 jersey this weekend as England search for their first win of the 2020 Championship.
