Matthew Carley will take charge of the first match of the Guinness Six Nations restart, when Ireland and Italy contest their Round 4 clash on October 24 in Dublin.

The fixture – originally scheduled to take place on March 7 – was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic ahead of the lockdown, which subsequently brought a halt to the Championship.

With just one defeat away to England so far, the hosts will be looking for a victory against the Azzurri that will maintain their hopes of lifting the coveted trophy for the second time in three years.

Carley (England) will be supported by Luke Pearce (England) and Mike Adamson (Scotland) on the touchlines, while Tom Foley (England) is set for TMO duties.

The 2020 campaign reaches its delayed conclusion a week later, with defending Grand Slam champions Wales getting the weekend’s action up and running at home to Scotland.

Wayne Pivac has endured a tough first Championship in charge and will be looking to end on a high against Gregor Townsend’s men, who currently lie third with two wins from four games.

Andrew Brace (Ireland) will oversee matters on the pitch, while Mathieu Raynal (France) and Christophe Ridley (England) have been appointed assistants for the clash. Tom Foley (England) will be the game’s TMO.

Table-toppers England end the series against Italy in Rome and Eddie Jones will be hoping to put the pressure on France and Ireland as they chase a first Guinness Six Nations title since 2017.

Pascal Gauzere (France) is in charge of that fixture, alongside assistants Alex Ruiz (France) and Mike Adamson (Scotland), and TMO Romain Poite (France).

France entertain Ireland in the final game of the 2020 campaign, with Wayne Barnes (England) in the hotseat. Matthew Carley (England) and Karl Dickson (England) will assist Barnes, with Luke Pearce (England) taking the TMO reins.

World Rugby has also confirmed many of the match appointments for the new eight-team Autumn Nations Cup, set to get underway on November 13.

Welshman Nigel Owens is set to become the first referee to take charge of 100 Test matches when he oversees France’s tie against Italy on November 28, two weeks after he referees England’s Twickenham clash against Georgia.

Elsewhere, Ireland’s Joy Neville will become the first woman to perform TMO duties in a major men’s international competition when Wales take on Georgia at Parc y Scarlets on November 21.
