Ireland back Jordan Larmour has been ruled out of the Guinness Six Nations restart and the Autumn Nations Cup, after suffering a dislocated shoulder in Leinster’s weekend win over Benetton.
The 23-year-old was withdrawn from the Guinness PRO14 contest in Treviso early in the second half, and while the Dublin-based side are yet to put a timeline on his return, he has been declared unavailable for Ireland’s six-game autumn schedule.
Since making his national team debut against Italy during Ireland’s Grand Slam-winning campaign two years ago, Larmour has gone on to make 24 Test appearances and started all three Championship games in 2020 before the suspension due to coronavirus.
Ireland resume the series at home to Italy in Round 4 on October 24 before travelling to France a week later, and Andy Farrell’s men will be crowned champions if they emerge with two bonus-point victories.
Following the Guinness Six Nations conclusion, Ireland will feature in the Autumn Nations Cup, competing in matches against Wales, England and Georgia before a play-off game to decide their final placing.
But they will be forced to do it all without Larmour, while Leinster teammate Max Deegan is also out for a number of months after sustaining an ACL knee injury against Dragons in their domestic opener.
Fellow Ireland internationals Johnny Sexton, Rónan Kelleher and Andrew Porter are all set to be assessed by the IRFU medical team this week after time on the sidelines, while Ryan Baird will stay with Leinster after suffering an abductor injury against Benetton.
